Across the industry

Prediction markets just had their biggest week ever. An NFL-driven weekend pushed combined Kalshi and Polymarket volume to a record $22.2 billion, with a single two-day stretch above $8.5 billion.

Kalshi is reportedly in talks to raise at a roughly $40 billion valuation, about double its spring figure, with revenue running near a $4 billion annualized rate and a public listing floated for 2027.

Polymarket is moving to reopen to US traders on the back of its $112 million acquisition of CFTC-licensed QCEX, now operating as Polymarket US. Its US app launched in December, sports contracts first.

The sports-contract question is heating up. New York has sued both platforms, Texas held hearings, and whether these contracts count as prediction markets or sports betting looks headed for the Supreme Court.

The UK could be next. The FCA has confirmed it is in talks with prediction-market operators about entering the market, even as it weighs how the products fit existing rules.

See you in Vegas, November 3–5.
